Apple Macbook Pro Camera Not Working

Any new Apple product has a bigger bite missing and more worms. Why should a $1500 laptop with a $10 camera work? Macbook british keyboard layout. You have to use your iPhone, your iMac,your macbook, and your iPad in tandem since none of them work as sold by Apple. I tried force quitting all the applications that use the camera but with no luck. Even tried sudo killall VDCAssistant without any luck. Restarting the machine fixes the issue, but it is highly annoying to do so every day. I am running 10.8.1 on 2012 MacBook Pro.

Your Mac might be turned on but appear to be turned off, even though it's connected to AC power and a working display. Follow these steps.

  1. Press and hold the power button on your Mac for at least 10 seconds, then release. If your Mac is turned on, this forces it to turn off.
  2. If you see no change on your Mac, press and release the power button normally.
  3. If your Mac now turns on but doesn't finish starting up, follow the steps for when your Mac doesn't start up all the way.
  4. If your Mac still doesn't turn on, please contact Apple Support.

  • Display backlight continuously or intermittently shows vertical bright areas along the entire bottom of the screen
  • Display backlight stops working completely

Hi guys, lately the built-in camera on my macbook pro hasn't been working properly: at first it works normally then after a while it stops (the green light stays on) and when I open photo booth or other programmes it says 'camera not connected', how can I fix this? MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, even the iMac, all have that 720p webcam. But, there is one current Mac with a better camera. Chances are you don't have it, so don't get too excited.

Affected devices were sold between October 2016 and February 2018. Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service affected MacBook Pro units, free of charge.
